Brown Butter Chocolate Chip Cookies
My brothers' favorite!

Ingredients:
- 1 + 3/4 cup flour - 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 1/2 tsp baking soda - 1 large egg
-14 tbsp butter - 1 egg yolk
- 1/2 cup sugar - 1 + 1/4 cup dark chocolate chips
- 3/4 cup brown sugar -1 tsp salt
- *optional: 3/4 cup pecans or walnuts
Directions
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Heat 10 tablespoons butter in a small saucepan on medium high heat until melted, about 2 minutes. Keep cooking, swirling pan constantly until butter is dark golden brown and has a nutty aroma, 1 to 3 minutes. Transfer hot browned butter to a mixing bowl, and add remaining 4 tablespoons of butter into it, mixing until completely melted. Add both sugars, salt, and vanilla to the bowl with butter and whisk until fully incorporated. Add the egg and yolk, whisking until mixture is smooth, about 30 seconds. Let mixture stand 3 minutes, then whisk for 30 seconds. Repeat the process of resting and whisking 2 more times until the mixture is thick, smooth, and shiny. Stir in flour and baking soda until just combined, about 1 minute. Stir in chocolate chips and nuts (if using). Using an ice cream scooper, scoop balls of cookie dough onto the pans, about 8 balls per sheet with 2 inches between each cookie dough ball. Bake for 10-14 minutes, until the edges are golden brown but center is still soft. Rotate the trays halfway through cooking time for even heating. Cool on a wire rack, then enjoy with a glass of milk!
